SAGE offers Programs in 3 areas: High School Study Abroad; Gap Year & Volunteer Service for high school, Gap Year/semester and college students; and Custom Group Travel for schools and special interest groups.
High School Study Abroad SAGE offers a unique international high school study abroad program in which students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to spend an academic semester or year at one of our top-rated international boarding schools around the world – all members of the SAGE Global Schools Consortium. Students receive full academic credit for their time abroad and all classes are taught in English. Students immerse themselves in another culture, learn another language, and take part in community service programs – all while studying alongside peers from around the world. Under special circumstances, younger students may also be able to study abroad
Gap Year & Volunteer Service
SAGE welcomes "Gap Year" students for either a semester or a year during your time between high school and college. Most of these programs are also available to college students and young adults.
The SAGE Program offers a variety of “Gap Semester / Year” opportunities:
We offer:
- Experiential learning opportunities where students can pursue interests and passions, such as Woodstock School’s Gap Semester in the Himalaya.
- Service learning opportunities where students can connect what they have learned in school to real-world service experiences such as our Ghana Gap Program.
- Academic study opportunities where students can continue taking classes and preparing for college while still immersing themselves in another culture, such as our Academic Gap Program.
Volunteer Service Programs
SAGE encourages high school and college students to volunteer with us during school breaks. Because our service programs are flexible, you can volunteer for as long as you like, and whenever you like! SAGE Volunteer Service Programs are ideal for young adults who are looking for a meaningful experience abroad before continuing with school or career. We have a variety of projects to choose from in each location whether it be in Africa, Asia or Latin America.
SAGE offers custom designed trips for student and special-interest groups throughout the year. We work with you to design an educational experience abroad that supplements your curriculum and changes the lives of your students by bringing classroom learning to life. SAGE has developed educational journeys abroad for nearly twenty years and has a time-tested and well-established network of contacts, schools, and organizations which we work closely with. We have programs in over 20 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and 2 Native American reservations in the United States.
An important part of our custom group travel program are the service learning opportunities students have. Students can: further their study of human rights by visiting the Killing Fields museum in Cambodia and helping to build and support rural schools which protect girls from human trafficking; learn what modern-day followers of Gandhi are doing to promote peace and nonviolence; work with indigenous populations in Guatemala; volunteer at a fair trade cooperative in the Dominican Republic; and study globalization by visiting a call center in India. SAGE’s extensive network of contacts and resources in each location allows us to offer custom-designed itineraries and cultural immersion experiences that meet the unique needs of each individual group.
