SAGE is committed to caring for the Earth and the diversity of cultures that inhabit the planet. This is why SAGE is a proud member of Sustainable Travel International, whose mission is to promote responsible travel and ecotourism, support sustainable development, and help travelers protect the cultures and environments they visit.
SAGE’s Green initiative:
Carbon Offsets
Travel has a significant impact on climate change. SAGE offers a Carbon Offset Program, which is independently verified by a third party, to offset the carbon emissions of your air travel. Beyond that, we will match your donation – dollar for dollar – to further offset the carbon impact of international travel, which SAGE supports.
Your carbon offsets will financially support sustainable practices such as tree planting, bio-fuel use, and wind and solar installations in the locations you visit. Where possible, you may visit the projects you are helping to support!

Print material:
SAGE endeavors to "go green" with all our publicity material, minimizing our use of paper. We use recycled paper for all our print materials. Our printer is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to ensure that print materials are sourced responsibly and that general forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.
SAGE encourages and supports you and your group to travel lightly on the planet and be respectful of local culture and communities. Click here to see a list of our suggestions.
We try to do our part by:
- Supporting local communities by using locally owned lodging, restaurants and shops, and hiring local guides where possible.
- Ensuring that our type and scale of travel is appropriate to the local community conditions and their capacity for receiving visitors.
- Encouraging you to act responsibly and respect the local community, its culture and traditions.
- Supporting eco-projects and Fair Trade organizations where appropriate.
- Taking economic, environmental and cultural factors into account when considering new destinations.
We hope you will join us in our efforts to create a more sustainable world!
