About PTIS International School

A community that challenges its members to act as compassionate, knowledgeable and principled global citizens working together for a sustainable future and inspired by meaningful relationships, continuous learning and 'good thinking'.
Location
Regarded as the “cultural capital” of Thailand, Chiang Mai is a charming and peaceful old town, famous for its many temples and surrounding lush mountains. Located just outside of Chiang Mai is the PTIS campus, set on 100 tropical acres of forest and open land. Average year round temperatures are in the 80’s with summer months being the hottest and most humid.
The School
Established in 2001, PTIS is a fully accredited IB (International Baccalaureate) school with over 400 students from K-12. Approximately 100 of these students are boarders. In addition to its comprehensive academic curriculum, the school offers a special sports academy for golf, tennis, cricket and soccer enthusiasts.
Students and Faculty
Students come from 32 different countries in Asia, Europe, North America and Australia. Faculty are from 13 different countries, with most from the US, UK, Canada and Australia. All teachers have formal teaching qualifications and at least one higher education degree. The student to teacher ratio is 7:1 with an average class size of seventeen.
High School
With approximately 300 students in the high school, over 95% of graduates go on to higher studies at universities and colleges world-wide. A highlight every February is participating in the school wide “Camp Week” program which provides a wide variety of off-campus activities.
Activities
After school sports include: archery, badminton, squash, orienteering, mountain bike riding, trekking, volleyball, swimming, basketball, golf, tennis and soccer. Other co-curricular activities include: computer creativity, soap making, yoga, magic club, Thai dancing, ultimate frisbee, Model United Nations, hip hop and break dance clubs.
PTIS students work closely with several near-by orphanages, children’s homes and hill tribe villages, and have access to off-campus activities as diverse as white-water rafting, caring for elephants and jungle tree-top zip lines. The Traidhos organic farm located on the north side of campus gives students a chance to work with buffaloes, assist with planting and help in the production of food for the school cafeteria.
