SAGE provides students with an opportunity to volunteer with orphaned and vulnerable youth in Ethiopia. In sub-Saharan Africa, the AIDS pandemic has orphaned more than 15 million children. Extreme poverty is forcing millions of orphaned children to live without basic shelter, food, heath care, education, and legal protection.

Kids

We invite you to volunteer in our community-based program for creating permanent, independent families in regions experiencing such devastation. Located in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, our partnering organization adopts orphaned children to live in a home with other adopted children. Each home has a house Mom and Auntie that care for the children. Graduate

As a volunteer, you will work with a small team creating enrichment opportunities for the children and participating in home and garden improvement projects with the Moms and Aunties.

As a volunteer you can expect to:

  • Practice English with the children at the Alpha School in Bethel
  • Play with, mentor, and love the children
  • Work on a personal project that benefits the children
  • Gain knowledge on the orphan crisis in Ethiopia
